EFT Tapping for Therapists: An Experiential Introduction
Teignmouth • 30th May
Optional Zoom Taster • 14th May, 12pm

There are moments in a therapist’s life when something unexpected begins to work in our hands long before our minds have fully caught up.
EFT Tapping was one of those moments for me.
For years, I held it at arm’s length: curious, but sceptical. It looked too simple, too odd, too far from the familiar terrain of talking and tracking and gently unravelling. And yet, when I finally allowed myself to try it, something unmistakable happened: the body softened, the breath returned, and clients who had been circling the same emotional territory for months suddenly found a way through.
This workshop is an invitation into that territory—where physiology, emotion, and presence meet in a surprisingly elegant way.
A Day of Learning Through the Body
Across the day, we’ll explore tapping not as a trick or a technique, but as a relational, trauma‑sensitive way of helping the nervous system release what it has been holding.
You’ll experience:
-
Why tapping works — the leading hypotheses, from polyvagal-informed mechanisms to the role of acupoint stimulation in calming threat responses.
-
Different tapping sequences and styles — classic EFT, streamlined approaches, and variations that meet clients where they are.
-
Trauma‑sensitive applications — how tapping can support titration, grounding, and gentle release without overwhelming the system.
-
The EFT Basic Recipe — clear, structured guidance you can begin using immediately.
-
Deep experiential practice — demonstrations, guided rounds, and paired exercises that let you feel the shifts in your own body.
This is a workshop for therapists who value depth, safety, and integrity—and who are open to discovering that something they once doubted might become a trusted companion in the therapy room.
Why Therapists Are Turning to Tapping
Tapping offers a way to:
-
Soften emotional intensity without bypassing
-
Support clients who struggle to verbalise or stay regulated
-
Work gently with trauma responses
-
Help clients build self-regulation between sessions
-
Offer therapists a grounding tool for their own nervous systems
It is deceptively simple, but not simplistic. It meets the body where it is, and invites it—slowly, respectfully—towards ease.

Where To Stay
The event will be hosted in the stunning Summer House (picture above), located in the gardens of the local Cliffden Hotel.

-
The Cliffden Hotel: A charming, family-friendly hotel in Teignmouth, set within seven acres of beautiful gardens with sea views and just a short stroll from the beach. Please note that this hotel is dog friendly and often accommodates guide dogs, as it specialises in accommodation for the visually impaired. Even though they put in a lot of effort to clean every room, we'd still recommend staying elsewhere if you have a dog allergy.

Other highly recommended local places to stay in Teignmouth include:

Known for its welcoming atmosphere, spotless rooms (some with picturesque sea views), and a delicious, hearty cooked breakfast.
-
Lynton House (15 minute walk to the venue): Situated in an elegant Victorian building right on the seafront, this guest house offers twelve comfortable en-suite rooms, many boasting beautiful sea or river views. What To Do
If you wish to stay longer or arrive earlier, or you would like to know what else you can do, please note that Teignmouth offers many activities. Beside the usual coastal treats, such as water sports, wild swimming, and coastal path walks, here are some of my favourite things to do in Teignmouth:

-
Enjoy the seafront sauna. Book here;
-
Bring your cup and fill it with a hot drink at the Teign Bean, right on the seafront, and sit on their tables or have your drink overlooking the horizon.
-
Take the small, picturesque ferry to the nearby Shaldon;
-
Once in Shaldon, find your way to the Smugglers Tunnel and access the Ness Cove Beach;
-
Enjoy a hot drink and a snack at the sustainable café Ode, owned by an award-winning fine-dining chef, Tim Bouget, with impressive views of Teignmouth;
-
You won't miss the ocean beach, but do not forget to visit the "Back beach", or river beach, where you can enjoy the sunset, and stunning views of Shaldon, Shaldon bridge and the port.
-
Have the most amazing chips at the Blue Hut.

Non-Residential Format
While staying in the Cliffden hotel will certainly allow the feeling of a "full retreat", this retreat is designed with flexibility in mind. You’re welcome to stay wherever suits you best: local B&B, Airbnb, hotel, camping sites, or holiday rental. Bring your family, or come alone; it’s completely up to you.
