Location and Format

Teignmouth, Devon

A charming, coastal town with direct train connections and stunning natural surroundings.

Where To Stay

The event will be hosted in the stunning Summer House, located in the gardens of the local Cliffden Hotel.

  • The Cliffden Hotel: A charming, family-friendly hotel in Teignmouth, set within seven acres of beautiful gardens with sea views and just a short stroll from the beach. Please note that this hotel is dog friendly and often accommodates guide dogs, as it specialises in accommodation for the visually impaired. Even though they put in a lot of effort to clean every room, we'd still recommend staying elsewhere if you have a dog allergy.

Other highly recommended local places to stay in Teignmouth include:

  • The Thornhill (6 minute walk to the venue): This highly-rated bed and breakfast offers a fantastic seafront location, directly opposite Teignmouth's sandy beach and just a five-minute walk from the town centre and train station. Known for its welcoming atmosphere, spotless rooms (some with picturesque sea views), and a delicious, hearty cooked breakfast.

  • Lynton House (15 minute walk to the venue): Situated in an elegant Victorian building right on the seafront, this guest house offers twelve comfortable en-suite rooms, many boasting beautiful sea or river views. Guests consistently praise the peaceful ambiance, friendly staff, and the generous full English breakfast served in their spacious dining room.

Teignmouth, being a very sought-after coastal town, offers a fantastic array of accommodation to suit every taste and budget. Beyond traditional hotels, you'll find numerous charming bed and breakfasts, Airbnb offers, cosy self-catering holiday cottages and apartments, and even unique places to stay in the surrounding area.

WORD OF ADVICE! Teignmouth's popularity, especially during peak season, means that accommodation fills up very quickly. To secure your ideal spot, particularly if you have specific requirements, please be sure to book early!

What To Do

If you wish to stay longer or arrive earlier, or you would like to know what else you can do, please note that Teignmouth offers many activities. Beside the usual coastal treats, such as water sports, wild swimming, and coastal path walks, here are some of my favourite things to do in Teignmouth:

  • Enjoy the seafront sauna. Book here;

  • Take the small, picturesque ferry to the nearby Shaldon;

  • Once in Shaldon, find your way to the Smugglers Tunnel and access the Ness Cove Beach;

  • Enjoy a hot drink and a snack at the sustainable café Ode, owned by an award-winning fine-dining chef, Tim Bouget, with impressive views of Teignmouth;

  • You won't miss the ocean beach, but do not forget to visit the "Back beach", or river beach, where you can enjoy the sunset, and stunning views of Shaldon, Shaldon bridge and the port.

  • Have the most amazing chips at the Blue Hut.

  • Bring your cup and fill it with a hot drink at the Teign Bean, right on the seafront, and sit on their tables or have your drink overlooking the horizon.

Non-Residential Format

While staying in the Cliffden hotel will certainly allow the feeling of a "full retreat", this retreat is designed with flexibility in mind. You’re welcome to stay wherever suits you best: local B&B, Airbnb, hotel, camping sites, or holiday rental. Bring your family, or come alone; it’s completely up to you.
